As a pharmacist, TAPTYPE empowers you to assess and document minor ailments – as per your province regulations – through a set of predefined questions for each minor ailment directing you to the red flag symptoms, which, if present, you’ll need to refer your patients to their primary care physician, while keeping accurate documentation and saving time.
To start, log in to your TAPTYPE account and create a new note for your patient.
From the common cases side menu, you’ll find the minor ailments already set up for you. Choose the one that’s relevant to your patient.
In addition to collecting patients’ complaints, the list of questions covers anything related to the treatment initiated, prescription date, details, rationale, instructions communicated with the patient, and plan for monitoring and follow-up.
It’s important to note that sometimes you will find a “?” beside the answer options; when you hover over it, a pop-up will appear, explaining the symptom and its red flag cases, which if present in your patient, you need to refer them to their primary care physician.
You can also refer to the “Health care referral” section and select “Refer to a healthcare provider if” and there you will find the red flags list, which you can check to help you decide whether your patient needs to be referred to their primary care physician or not.
The Outline page will show you an overview of the questions specific to the minor ailment and whether your patient answered all of them or not.
The assessments and plan page allows you to select from the assessments related to the minor ailment and add your final remarks.
After reviewing and saving the note, you can “Print prescription” and “Copy paragraph version” from your note output to paste into the patient’s EMR.
